We are encouraged and want to continually lift up our Brothers and Sisters of Rehobeth Church in Waterloo on their journey to rebuild after the tragic July 6th fire that destroyed their Church.
There is 6.18 miles located between the front doors of Rehobeth and Fox Fairview Church, but these days the hearts of those affected are much closer.
If you’re not familiar with the scripture found in Genesis 50:20, you may want to familiarize yourself with it as this scripture has seemingly come to life in the last several weeks and you’re likely to hear it in this area for a long time.
Genesis 50:20 says, But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.
Yesterday, the Communities surrounding Waterloo, Patriot, Arabia and beyond came together in in a big way to specifically support and raise funds for their rebuilding project.
The Clark Family of Arabia who are known for their Community involvement and benevolence partnered with the Church and Community Leaders to put together a Spaghetti Dinner fit for a King.
The fundraiser was held at Clark’s Fast Lane beginning at 12noon and ran until 4pm.
On the Menu was spaghetti, salad, rolls, drinks and plenty of desserts from the best cooks our communities have bragging rights of. Everyone pulled together their best recipes to help assist in the fundraising efforts.
According to Gretta Lunsford-Taylor of Rehobeth Church, ” We surpassed our fundraising expectations and are so thankful for everyone who prayed for our event and those who were able to attend.”
Around 325 people were served. They were served a meal, drink, dessert and a dose of hometown love one could not find anywhere else.
“I’m so grateful for the amazing support from the community and feel truly blessed by how many people showed up—we exceeded all of my expectations. I deeply appreciate everyone who prayed for the event and those who were able to attend”, said Taylor.
While it was billed as a Community Event, it was spearheaded by Nancy Clark, Gretta Taylor, Emily Clark, Johnna Lunsford and Brenda Mershon.
What started as “fundraiser” sort of became a “friendraiser” with acquaintances old and new sharing stories, testimonies, a great meal and a time of fellowship.
Rehobeth Church has started the preliminary process of building and hope to keep the public and community updated every step of the way.
Their next fundraiser is set for September 28th at Symmes Valley High School. An event being sponsored by neighboring Church, WOW Ministries in Waterloo, this will be a Gospel Concert. “We are thrilled for this upcoming event and look forward to being blessed by the talented groups who will be sharing God’s word through their gifts in music”, says Johnna Lunsford.
Ironically, One can not ignore the “the spark” that has been lit in these Communities since these tragic fires. A spark that might just lead to the restoration, rebuilding and revival that some Churches have been longing to see for decades.
Fox-Fairview Christian Church is a Friend of Rehobeth Church and we’re excited to see what God does in the coming months.
God Bless You.
