Did You Know?

So we all have great memories of Fox-Fairview Church, but let’s talk about some Facts & Figures you may not have known!

1. It is actually located in Gallia County and not Lawrence County

2. It has a Patriot, Ohio Address. The address is 53 Pyles Road

3. The Church burned once before and was rebuilt in 1908

4. The Church was started in a home

5. The front door of the Church is located at 38’41’1″/82’25’21”

6. The ground elevation where the pulpit set is 961ft

7. The Church set on Sandstones. 5 across the front and 7 pillars down each side.

8. The Church Building was 30’ft Wide and 40’ft Long and was amazingly “in square”.

9. To the threshold of the front door, the Church set 2’ft off the ground and even higher by the metal railing near Myers Water Barrell Corner.

10. Both stoves were initially Potbelly Stoves before the one on the left side was replaced.

11. Mount Pleasant “Old Baptist Church” and the Wilson Ridge Hecla/Lawrence Water Tower had line of site to The Church.

12. The front doors of the Church were exactly .29 miles from the Lawrence County Line

13. The Church had 3 rows of Pews versus a traditional 2 rows at many Churches.

14. There were 8 rows of Pews in the Sanctuary.

15. There are 7 metal pipe railing posts down the elevated sidewalk at Myers Water Barrell Corner.

16. The Church was once closed for regular services for almost 40 years.

17. The closest home is located .15 miles away

18. We can find no living survivors that can ever recall a Funeral Service being held in the Church-only burials in the Cemetery.

19. The oldest living survivor (that we can locate) to have attended Church Services regularly at Fox-Fairview Church is 97. That is Helen Kingery Saunders of Ironton, Ohio.

20. In the last Century, there are no records of Homecoming Services being held at the Church, The Myers Reunion was the assumed Homecoming Service and Dinner on the Ground.

20. A new roof was scheduled to be installed on the Church when it burned.
